In this video, Alice talks about why there is a need for penal reform. Though she talks largely about the USA, she notes how these same problems can be found within the UK prison system and the disproportionate impact this has on individuals that fall within specific socioeconomic groups. She does this by looking at the impact on individuals both in and out of prison, the role of prisons, the response of society to such individuals and how politics underpins it all.
